Volunteers are being recruited to help deliver fire safety and crime prevention advice

VOLUNTEERS are being recruited to help deliver fire safety and crime prevention advice to neighbours and nearby residents.

Essex Police and the fire service have launched the scheme to help make people safer in their homes at a time when the police force is facing £63million cuts by 2020.

The volunteers will carry out regular hour-long visits in their own communities and deliver crime prevention and fire safety advice, fitting of free smoke alarms and letting people know where to get the best health and wellbeing guidance.

Connect Well to Live and Stay Well

An exciting new service is launching in the second week of February 2016 to promote long-term health, wellbeing and independence of the mid-Essex community.

The Connect Well service uses ‘social prescribing’ – an approach that seeks to improve people’s health and wellbeing by linking them to activities in the community that they might benefit from.

Help shape the future in the fire and rescue service's biggest ever consultation

Residents are being urged to have their say in the future redesign of Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS), through a 12 week consultation that started on Monday June 15 and ends on Sunday September 6.

The consultation process, the main element of the Fire Authority’s Integrated Risk Management Plan (IRMP), aims to address several key issues impacting on the fire service such as the declining number of call-outs and the need to increase the focus on preventing fires and emergencies from happening.
